| Volunteers are actively preserving, recording and sharing the fascinating history of Greenwich. If you are a history buff and would like to help, you will have a wonderful time working with any one of the following groups. Greenwich Library Oral History Project The Greenwich Library Oral History Project, founded in 1973 and sponsored by the Friends of the library, records memories of town residents who helped to make or have observed the history of Greenwich. Oral history interviews are a wonderful way to learn about the town. The Project’s volunteers have recorded more than 700 interviews and published 131 books, which circulate at all town libraries and are for sale at the Oral History office. New members are always welcome. Historical Society of the Town of Greenwich This dynamic group does an awesome job of collecting, preserving and sharing Greenwich history. Its headquarters are at the charming Bush-Holley Historic site where interesting lectures, exhibits and events are always happening. Volunteers are welcomed as docents, to help in the gift shop and to help with the wide range of programs. Helping with the annual events, the Antiquarius Antiques Show and House Tour is especially fun.
Putnam Cottage/Daughters of the American Revolution, Putnam Hill
Chapter This chapter of the national historic preservation, education and patriotic organization encourages membership by women who can document their ancestry to people who served in or provided services for the American Revolutionary War (a.k.a. three generations of family in America). Docents for the Putnam Cottage museum are needed and do not have to be D.A.R./C.A.R. members.
